The dog website I wanted 20 years ago, and why I stepped away
More than 20 years ago, I wanted to build a website about dogs. I could picture it clearly. What I did not have was any idea how to make it.
There was no AI to ask, and nobody around me who could teach me. Without a first step to take, the idea stayed an idea.
Twenty years of building someone else’s dream
I spent the next 20-plus years putting my energy into someone else’s dream. The work was steady and I did it well, but it was never mine. The dog website stayed in the back of my mind the whole time.
Starting my own business, and still wanting more
Eventually I started my own business selling health insurance across the United States. It was a real step, and I am proud of it.
Still, I wanted something more, something I could do from home without going back to 50-hour weeks. I wanted room to build something of my own that did not swallow my whole life.
